I also have a love for shape and colour, so my favourites have unique characteristics that give them a thumb’s up in my world. If the plant can adjust well to these conditions, it has a place in my home. My top 5 favourite houseplants choices are based on the plant’s ability to survive a wide range of indoor temperatures, humidity levels, as well as the shorter days of light that we experience in the winter. Over the years, I have come to terms with being able to enjoy a variety of plants from afar, and I’ve narrowed down my selection at home to a few that give me joy rather than test my patience. I have had to become more pragmatic in my choices as I balance my love of work, recreation and gardening. But…….my love for them did not automatically mean that I had success growing them in my home. ![]() Having managed garden centres with large greenhouses, I was fortunate to be able to indulge my fetish for tropical plants.
